The Role:

In this role, you will be part of the People Team, working remotely from your own location in Western Australia, ideally in Perth or within the region our aggregations are located.

The primary focus of this role is supporting the GM, People & Safety to champion safety and wellbeing engagement. You will assist in the development and implementation of WHS strategies to protect the health, safety, and wellbeing of our employees and key stakeholders, and instil a strong positive safety culture.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Assist the business to build a positive safety culture across all sites
• Administer the Lawson Grains WHS Guide and work with the organisation to manage business risks
• Monitor incidents and provide advice and assistance to ensure a thorough and timely investigation of incidents. 
• Support the Farm Managers in their management of safety on their sites.
• Challenge non-conformance issues and escalate if required to ensure these issues are resolved.
• Encourage prompt reporting of injuries, hazards and near misses.
• Assist in addressing actions identified in audits and other non-conformances as identified.
• Maintain training needs analysis, monitor training completion and assist with the development and delivery of training, including new starter and contractor inductions.
• Actively manage workers’ compensation claims, early intervention injury management, return to work and fitness for work processes.

Requirements for this role:

• 3+ years’ experience in a similar work, health and safety role.
• Minimum Cert IV in WHS and a current driver’s license.
• Knowledge and understanding of WHS legislation and supporting regulations.
• Excellent communication, influencing, negotiation and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Ability to work in and contribute to a strong team environment.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Competent business reporting and computer skills (intermediate skills in Microsoft Office Suite).
• Ability to travel regularly to multiple sites throughout WA and at times interstate.
• Previous experience in agricultural or associated industries will be highly regarded.

Reporting directly to the Site Supervisor, you will be instrumental in the day-to-day operations of our bulk storage facility. The close nature of our team ensures everyone is well supported while high standards of safety and quality are maintained across our operations.

About You:

• Be reliable and organised with the ability to listen and learn, follow instructions and respect all WHS processes.

• Possess a positive attitude, self-motivation and initiative.

• Demonstrate pragmatic thinking with the ability to think outside the box to achieve practical outcomes and solutions.

About the role:

• Load and unload grain trucks into the silo and bunker complex.

• Weigh trucks and sample grain

• Ensure all visitors to the grain site are welcomed and enjoy a positive experience.

• Uphold all safety protocols to maintain a safe working environment.

• Identify and address hygiene issues to ensure the highest standards are met.

You will have:

• 2- 3 year’s experience in grain handling and sampling.

• A strong safety focus and proactive approach.

• A ‘can do’ attitude that aligns with our company culture.

• A current Driver’s Licence.

• Accommodation within the area is required due to long hours, but we’re happy to assist the right candidate.
